My visit to  Prachuap Khiri Khan was in May 2024 when I transited the town and stayed overnight while I was on my so-called self-planned  South-East-Asia Train Trip .  Prior to this visit, I had never even heard of  Prachuap Khiri Khan. Other more popular places in this part of Thailand including Hua Hin , Surat Thani and Hat Yai are often featured and mentioned in Travel Magazines and Travel TV Shows. But  Prachuap Khiri Khan ? Hardly much mentions. Thus for me, arriving at  Prachuap Khiri Khan via train from Hua Hin was a new experience. Not just visiting a place for the first time, but realising that such a place exists! Nowadays, wall murals seem to be a popular way for cities and towns to get visitors to take photographs and post these photos on social media. A rather easy way to promote the destinations, without having to spend lots of efforts and resources on marketing. A simple way to get visitors to "help" promote the destinations they visited, to other potential visitors! Of course, I could be wrong on this and the murals were simply put up because they beautify the areas. And having these murals around simply have nothing to do with destination marketing or promotion.  Nonetheless, there are some murals that I encountered in my travels that simply stopped me in my tracks. Why? I do not know. Maybe because the mural do tell a story. A story of the place.  While traveling through  Mueang Prachuap Khiri Khan District of Thailand, I came across such a mural. I had a rare opportunity to visit Mueang Prachuap Khiri Khan with an overnight stopover while traveling by train through parts of South-East Asia in mid-2024.  Mueang Prachuap Khiri Khan is the provincial capital of Prachuap Khiri Khan Province and is about 240km south of Thailand 's capital city of Bangkok . In Mueang Prachuap Khiri Khan, I stayed at a hotel by the beach with direct view of the Khao Chong Krachok Monastery which is located on the top of a hill. The next morning, I decided to climb the 400 steps up to the monastery and was rewarded with a bird's eye view of the town and the coastline. However, I was more amazed by the view of the monastery while on my way up the hill.
