Japan, Tokyo - Peeping Cupid

Image
For those who travel, I'm sure you will agree that on many unexpected occasions, interesting photo opportunities do crop up. It is precisely for these unplanned occasions that having a camera on-hand and ready, really pays off. With the advent of smart phones, having a camera on-hand and ready at all times has become more of a norm rather than the exception. While I was visiting Tokyo in October 2014 and window shopping around the Ginza district, I chanced upon this interesting statue of Cupid. With a snap on the camera button of my iPhone, I immortalized that moment of the "Peeping Cupid". And here it is, just for sharing. :-)  Peeping Cupid, Ginza, Tokyo, Japan (2014)

Seychelles, Aldabra Atoll - Giant Tortoise

Image
The Aldabra Giant Tortoise is from the islands of the Aldabra Atoll in the Seychelles. This tortoise is a protected species and only about 100000 of them remain in the wild in the islands of the Aldabra Atoll. I personally saw this species up close in  Mahé  when I visited the Seychelles in 2000 and was absolutely amazed by its size, in particular, the relatively long neck of this tortoise. Observing the graceful movement of this giant literally left me in awe of this wonder of the animal kingdom. I was extremely glad to learn that this is now a protected species and the existing population is allowed to live in their natural environment in the islands of the Aladabra Atoll free from the interferences and predation of humans!
