Indonesia, Bali - Dine like a Pirate in a Treehouse

Currently on vacation in Bali, I am writing this article from the comfort of my hotel room at the Sofitel Nusa Dua.

Despite my previous numerous visits to Bali, I have not known of the Pirates Bay restaurant in Nusa Dua before. This unique dining place is located along the beach and is within walking distance of 5-star hotels such as the Sofitel, Westin and Grand Hyatt. A quick glance on Google Map will help you locate the Pirates Bay easily if you are anywhere along the beach of Nusa Dua.

As the name suggests, this is not your usual restaurant in Nusa Dua where one sits and dine on the beach. Instead, you get the chance to climb up a treehouse and dine right there!

Intrigue by the chance of such a unique dining experience, I decided to make my way from the Sofitel, walking by the beach for about 20 minutes to reach the Pirates Bay.

The menu includes mainly western style dishes such as burgers, steaks, fries and so on and so forth. There is also a selection of Indonesian and Asian dishes including Tom Yum Goong.

I ordered the Grilled Seafood Platter for 2 and was surprised by the generous selection of items that came with it. There were cockles, prawns, crabs, fishes, tuna steaks, squid and vegetable salad. In addition, there are 2 side dishes to choose from a selection of rice, mashed potatoes and french fries. I chose the rice and mashed potatoes.

The food was delicious. Add the ambience of the treehouse and this is one dining experience I will not forget. One negative point is the mosquitoes that accompanied us throughout our dinner. Thus, don't forget the insect repellant before you come here for your dinner or the mosquitoes will get to you!

Depending on what you order, the price can range from relatively low to a little on the high side. The staff were very attentive when I was here and service was excellent. I gave the Pirates Bay a high rating for dining experience, service, food and uniqueness. The next time you are in Bali, try out the Pirates Bay. :)
