Travel Bits: November 2017

Year-end Travel Rush.......

We are again approaching the time of the year when the school holidays have begun and parents as well as those without kids are all in a rush to clear their annual vacation leave days before the end of the calendar year.

For most folks, this annual end-of-year rush means planning for and going on an overseas holiday with family or friends at short notice. And while we all know about this year-end rush since the beginning of the year, our often hectic and busy lives often meant that we ended up in November and early December without having planned or booked anything with regards to that long desired year-end vacation break.

Well, you are not alone. But as this time of the year arrives, the cost of air tickets and hotels are also rapidly advancing upwards, the basic law of supply and demand dictating the direction of the prices.

And if you really do missed out on having that overseas holiday squeezed in because of budget or time constraints, the next best thing to consider is a local staycation. A holiday means spending quality time with family and friends, the location does not really matters. And I dare add that most of us will probably not have been to some local spots in a long time or even at all.

So, fret not if you are not able to travel overseas this time of the year. Look around at places around your city or town and that splendid year-end holiday can still be enjoyed, at a much lower cost, without the hassle of crossing international borders and without having to fork out wads of cash. :-)

And if you and your family do not fancy a staycation, there are always the local museums and other places of interests to visit and enjoy together.
