Singapore, Marina Bay - Gardens by the Bay Night View

By -

Singapore's Gardens by the Bay is famous worldwide as a beautiful garden located right in the city, next to the Central Business District (CBD).

During a staycation in August 2020 at the Marina Bay Sands hotel, I took this photograph of a night view of Gardens by the Bay. This photo was not a drone-taken picture but one that was taken with my iphone 12 Max Pro from the Observation Deck of the Marina Bay Sands hotel just after the sun had set.

New City Unlocked.......  I just returned from a short trip to Hong Kong and Macau. While I have been a rather regular visitor to Hong Kong, this was actually my first ever trip to Macau. For context, I was there to attend a concert by one of my favourite Mandarin-pop artist, Rene Liu Ruo Ying. Because I was taking the cross-border bus from Hong Kong to Macau and back to Hong Kong; and the concert will end close to 10pm, I decided to stay overnight at a hotel so that I did not have to rush for the last bus back to Hong Kong. Thus, my so-called 2 day/1 night trip to Macau. Before attending the concert, I had the chance to walk around the Macau Peninsula where the hotel I booked was located. I visited and took that obligatory tourist photo of the  Ruin of St Paul's, lunched at a Portuguese-style eatery, sight-see around the  Freguesia de Santo António and  Freguesia da Sé areas and shopped. And the next day before I returned to Hong Kong, I had lunch at a local ea...

China, Macao SAR - Snoopy-Themed Shop

I have been a Snoopy fan since childhood. While trying to find an alternative route with less crowd to return to my hotel after visiting the Ruins of St Paul's, I chanced upon this Snoopy-themed shop in Macau (a.k.a. Macao). Naturally, the Snoopy fan in me instantly awakened and I simply have to pause whatever I was doing and went into the shop. They sold all kinds of delicious cookies, packed in very colourful and very cute Snoopy-themed biscuit tins! Of course, the shop decorations make for wonderful travel photo moments!  Snoopy says "Welcome to Macau", Freguesia de Santo António, Macau, China (2026) Snoopy-themed Shop Front, , Freguesia de Santo António, Macau, China (2026)

Bucket List: Hiking in Tsushima

Japan, Nagasaki Prefecture, Tsushima Japan is a country which is heavily forested. Close to 2/3 of the country is covered in forests. I had always wanted to travel to and hike in some of Japan's forested areas, preferably in locales where the human population is sparse. Not that I am a hermit but less populated areas usually means more flourishing flora and fauna due to lesser human activities. Over the years and during my many trips to Japan, I had hiked in the Okuhida region of Takayama's mountain range as well as in the forests of Shiga Prefecture. One of my hikes in Japan's forests was in November 2019 when I traveled to Tsushima from Busan (Korea). Located between Busan and Nagasaki, Tsushima is an island group. With a sub-tropical marine environment, Tsushima has unique flora and fauna not found elsewhere in the Japanese main islands. A secluded shore in the n orthern part of Kamino-shima, Tsushima, Nagasaki Prefecture, Japan (2019) During my tr...
