Travel Bits: December 2025

12 months into 2025 and looking forward to 2026.......

Similar to my Travel Bits article of November 2025, I will start by repeating that I had just returned from another weekend trip to Hong Kong. This was my 6th visit to the city for the year. However, my next trip will be just a mere month away, in January 2026, on transit while on my way to Osaka.

Next week, I will embark on a road trip from Singapore to Ipoh. This trip will wrap up my travels for 2025. Meanwhile, I had already started planning for my first overseas trips in the first two weeks of 2026. I will begin the new year by traveling to Hong Kong, Osaka, Kyoto, Penang and Phuket in quick succession. A busy travel calendar to start the new year.

Equally busy is my work schedule. I am expecting myself to be working on the go while I vacation. There are analyses to conduct, reports to write and online meetings to attend. A fast paced December to conclude the year of 2025 and an equally fast paced January to start the year of 2026! But my work pays for my trips. Thus, I cannot complain.

My recent weekend sojourn in Hong Kong saw me visiting places that I had never visited before, eating at eateries that I had never eaten before and staying in a hotel that was new to me. Of course, there were also the familiar shopping and eating places that I have grown so accustomed to that I simply have to re-visit each time I am in Hong Kong. As with my previous trips, I spent a good amount of quality time with my partner.

The main purpose of the Ipoh trip next week is to visit relatives and friends. As usual, there will be lots of eating, chilling out at local cafes and probably some shopping.

And when night falls, I will be back in my accommodation working away so that the analyses and reports can be sent back to my clients and colleagues in Singapore to be reviewed or to be further worked on. Technology has make sure work is never far away, wherever in the world we are. But, it has also make travelling easier because for work that can be done remotely, we can still travel nowadays when previously we could not.

Returning to Singapore, I will spend a good amount of my time working on both weekdays and weekends, Because, in the week of Christmas, it will be my partner's turn to visit me in Singapore. And I certainly do not want to be laden with work during the festive week.

And yes, we will be travelling together to Osaka and Kyoto in January 2026. 😍🌏
